Katherine Gordon, Ph.D. Katie joined TVO in 2009. She manages the new Technology Ventures Office and oversees intellectual property and technology development and commercialization. Prior to joining Brown, from 2004 to 2009, Katie was director of business development at Harvard University’s Office of Technology Development where she developed and marketed technologies in the life science sector. She previously founded and ran start-up, Apollo BioPharmaceutics, a CNS drug discovery company, and worked at Genzyme. She has a Ph.D. degree from Wesleyan University.

Leonard Katzman, Esq. Len joined TVO in 2007. He manages technology licensing including marketing of inventions, negotiating license agreements and monitoring of existing licenses and relationships. Prior to joining Brown, Len was a business attorney concentrating on intellectual property law, technology transactions, business contract negotiations, corporate governance and general business counsel. He earned a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Rhode Island in 1985. In 2000, Len received his J.D., cum laude, from Rogers Williams University School of Law.

Michelle E. Sullivan Michelle joined TVO in 2007. She provides paralegal support to TVO and manages docketing, and administration of prosecution matters. Prior to joining Brown, Michelle worked as a Trademark Paralegal at Duffy, Sweeney & Scott, LTD in Providence and prior to that at Palmer & Dodge in Boston, MA. She earned a B.A. degree in Legal Studies and Sociology in 1996.

Beth Hurt, MBA, CPA Beth joined the Office of the Vice President for Research in 2007. She is responsible for financial management, budgeting and administrative operations. Prior to joining Brown, Beth was one of the founding employees of Spectra Systems Corporation, a Brown spin-out company. She has a background in both public and management accounting. She earned a B.A. from Michigan Technological University and an M.B.A. from Bryant University.

Deborah Frezza Debbie has been with Brown since 2002 and joined TVO in 2008. She provides administrative support for patenting and licensing activities as well as coordinating special events. Prior to joining TVO, Debbie worked in the Human Resources department and worked on various special projects at Brown. She also previously held positions at Rhode Island and E.P. Bradley Hospitals. She earned an A.S. in executive secretarial science and a Paraprofessional Certificate as a teaching assistant. |
