Research Infrastructure

Brown's research network features advanced academic institutes, centers, and facilities that make our world renowned research possible. Available to faculty and students alike, these facilities encourage discovery and innovation by providing state-of-the-art equipment and resources. Brown's research infrastructure expands annually; for example, construction is underway on a new Sidney E. Frank Hall (additional information at right), and planning for more new centers and facilities is ongoing.

Sidney E. Frank Hall

The Sidney E. Frank Hall for Life Sciences is a five-story, 169,000 square-foot glass and brick structure devoted to the study of human biology. Featuring 62 offices, 30 laboratories, 10 conference rooms and a 98-seat seminar room, it is the University's single largest capital project to date.

The project modernizes and expands laboratory and research space and is designed to encourage scientific collaboration among faculty, staff and students by uniting complimentary research under one roof. The building houses faculty from the Department of Neuroscience and the Department of Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Biochemistry. Providing direct access to the BioMedical Center , the Sidney E. Frank Hall for Life Sciences creates a hub of life science research and further promotes the cross-disciplinary collaboration that is a hallmark of research at Brown
