Sponsored Programs Information Network (SPIN)

SPIN is a subscription-based database, targeted primarily to grant seekers from institutions of higher education.  It currently contains information from more than 2,500 different sponsors—including federal departments, private foundations, and corporate funding agencies.  This comprises more than 11,000 separate funding opportunities for such award types as fellowships, sabbatical & publication support, conference travel funding, equipment acquisition, and much more.

 

Instructions for Accessing SPIN

SPIN is licensed to Brown University through the Office of Sponsored Projects.  Off-campus access may be obtained by following these steps:

  1. Access the Brown WebVPN Service.
  2. Authenticate using your Brown username and password.  Then click Continue. Please note that if you do not already have a Brown username and password, go to Activate MyAccount.
  3. Copy and paste research.brown.edu/rschadmin/spin.php in the box marked Address http://.
